MONTGOMERY, Ala. (March 23, 2019) – The Webber International University women's beach volleyball team earned a 4-1 victory over Principia College on day one of the Huntingdon College Beach Tournament on Friday before coming back the next day on Saturday and earning another win, a tight 3-2 decision over the host school Huntingdon. In addition to the pair of victories over two NCAA Division-III schools, the Warriors also fell to NCAA Division-I Mercer University twice by a score of 5-0.

Match 1 (Webber 4, Principia 1):

- Hannah Tannone and Salla Rautiainen (Won 21-12, 21-12 at No. 1) and Mekenzie Breuklander and Madelyn Glouner (Won 21-8, 21-9 at No. 2) each cruised to victory in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively.
- Jessica Terry and Kobi Allston needed three sets to earn the comeback victory in the No. 3 spot, taking it by scores of 17-21, 21-13, 16-14 in a very close final set.
- In the No. 5 spot, Teryn Mills and Molly Fusarelli won easily 21-12, 21-7.
- Julia Ferraro and Maricarmen Jaimes fell in two close sets in the No. 4 spot, 21-19, 21-18.

Match 2 (Webber 0, Mercer 5):

- Hannah Tannone and Salla Rautiainen did about as good as a job in the No. 1 spot as you could possibly do without winning, pushing Mercer's Amber Gibson and Gracie Garanich to the limit before falling in three sets 31-29, 24-26, 18-16.
- Mekenzie Breuklander and Madelyn Glouner lost two close sets against Elli Merchant and Kacy Ogden 21-18, 21-17, in the No. 2 spot.
- Jessica Terry and Kobi Allston fell 24-22, 21-9 to Kylie Keeling and Sarah Stewart in the No. 3 spot after a very close first set.
- Julia Ferraro and Maricarmen Jaimes dropped their match in the No. 4 spot, 21-11, 21-11.
- Teryn Mills and Molly Fusarelli battled hard but fell in three sets in the No. 5 spot, 21-14, 18-21, 15-5.

- It was the first meeting between the two teams since the Warriors defeated Huntingdon twice on back-to-back days, including in the semifinals, during their run to their second straight national title during the 2018 AVCA Small College Beach National Championship last April.
- Each of Webber's top three duos were victorious.
- Hannah Tannone and Salla Rautiainen cruised 21-12, 21-9 in the top spot.
- Mekenzie Breuklander and Madelyn Glouner won 21-18, 21-18 in the No. 2 position.
- At No. 3, Jessica Terry and Kobi Allston pulled it out in three sets after dropping the first one to win 16-21, 21-19, 15-11.
- Teryn Mills and Molly Fusarelli fell 21-19, 21-17 in a competitive match in the five hole.

Next Up:Â Remaining on Webber's schedule is four consecutive home matches leading into the first ever Sun Conference Beach Volleyball Tournament, which will also be hosted by the Warriors on their Campus Beach Volleyball Courts on Saturday, April 6. Before that, however, Webber's stretch of four straight home matches begins on Wednesday, March 27, against NCAA Division-II Lincoln Memorial University at 12 p.m. The Warriors defeated LMU by a close score of 3-2 last season in March on the Warriors' road to back-to-back Small College National Championships.
