BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 20, 2019) – The Webber International University beach volleyball team won twice on Tuesday, March 19, defeating NCAA Division-III Stevenson University twice by a score of 3-2 before coming back the next day on Wednesday, March 20, to dominate its Crooked Lake rival Warner University 5-0 to cap off an undefeated two days on the Webber Campus Beach Volleyball Courts.

In all, Webber got back to .500 overall on the season at 7-7 thanks to the three wins, and the Warriors also improved to 4-1 overall in The Sun Conference. Webber is now the only team in The Sun Conference with at least one win over all four other teams in the conference under its belt so far this season.

"We are very proud of our girls for bringing home a 5-0 win versus Warner," spoke Volunteer Assistant Beach Volleyball Coach Michelle Calderon "The effort and discipline that the girls showed today was definitely sweep worthy. We continue to improve every day and we are very excited to travel to Alabama this weekend, hopefully bringing home a couple of more wins."
 
Match 1 (Webber 3, Stevenson 2):
 

• It was the first meeting between the two teams since the 2018 AVCA Small College Beach National Championship match last April (4/8/2018) when the Warriors were victorious by a score of 4-1.
• Hannah Tannone and Salla Rautiainen were 21-12, 21-9 winners at No. 1.
• At No. 4, Julia Ferraro and Luiza Oliveira rallied for a 19-21, 21-16, 15-8 win.
• At No. 5, Molly Fusarelli and Teryn Mills won 21-16, 21-15.
• Mekenzie Breuklander and Madelyn Glouner fell 21-18, 21-18 in the No. 2 spot while Kobi Allston and Jessica Terry lost 11-21, 21-18, 15-6 after winning the first set in the No. 3 spot.

 
Match 2 (Webber 3, Stevenson 2):
 

• Mekenzie Breuklander and Madelyn Glouner earned the win in the No. 2 spot, 21-10, 21-16.
• Jessica Terry and Kobi Allston won 21-15, 21-19 in the No. 3 spot.
• Molly Fusarelli and Teryn Mills earned their second win of the day with a 15-21, 22-20, 15-10 comeback win in the No. 5 spot.
• Salla Rautiainen and Hannah Tannone fell 21-12, 12-21, 15-12 in a three-setter in the No. 1 spot and Julia Ferraro and Luiza Oliveira lost 21-14, 21-15 in the No. 4 spot.

 
Match 3 (Webber 5, Warner 0):
 

• The 5-0 sweep served as sweet revenge for the Warriors after it was Warner that gave Webber its first and only conference defeat of the season so far with a 3-2 decision back on February 27.
• Hannah Tannone and Salla Rautiainen won 21-19, 21-12 in the No. 1 spot, Mekenzie Breuklander and Madelyn Glouner won 21-11, 21-9 in the No. 2 spot, Jessica Terry and Kobi Allston won 21-18, 21-13 in the No. 3 spot, Julia Ferraro and Luiza Oliveira won 21-10, 21-13 in the No. 4 spot, and Molly Fusarelli and Teryn Mills won 21-17, 21-5 in the No. 5 spot

 
Next Up:  Webber will travel to Montgomery, Alabama, to compete in the Huntingdon College Beach Tournament on Friday, March 22, and Saturday, March 23. The Warriors will battle Principia College at 1 p.m. and NCAA Division-I Mercer University at 3 p.m. on Friday before coming back the next day on Saturday to take on Mercer again at 8 a.m. followed by the host school, Huntingdon, at 12 p.m.
