BABSON PARK, Fla. – Last weekend, Webber International University Men's Volleyball played their final match of the season against Bluefield College. The Warriors would end their season with a sweep of the Rams 25-15, 25-15, 27-25.
Matthew Corrales,
Christian Alvarez, and
Enrique Larach led the offense with 8 kills each, while hitting .500, .462, and .333, respectively.
Bradley Marrero controlled the offense with 30 assists, while
Robert Ocasio and
Steven Bartlett led the defensive effort with 8 digs each, with
Trevor Johns chipping in 6 more.
Sets one and two saw a tight contest early on as the teams traded points. After being tied in the early goings, the Warriors would use several runs in the middle of both sets to pull away from the rams, using the serve to keep them out of system, and then capitalize with an efficient offense. The Rams pulled it together in set three, holding a 23-18 lead late in the match. At this point, the Warriors dug deep and fought back to tie it up, eventually earning the final two points they needed to win the set and sweep the match.
The Warriors will now enter their offseason as they look to improve on what was started in 2017. Exciting things appear to be on the horizon for this young program. Go Warriors!
