Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University women's basketball hosted archrival Warner University, Tuesday, in a Sun Conference Tournament quarterfinal match up. The Warriors came out fast and dominated the game throughout, winning out, 73-47. Webber International will now take on St. Thomas, Friday, February 26 at 5 p.m. in Lakeland, Florida.
Deslyn Applewhaite had a strong game, as a scorer and as a distributor, posting 12 points and seven assists. Mar'Lisa Braxton led the Warriors in scoring with 16 points on 5-10 shooting. Jermisha Mcrae nearly missed a double-double with eight points and 11 rebounds.
The Warriors opened the game with a frantic 8-0 run. The Royals shot well form beyond the arch, keeping the Webber International from pushing ahead too far. In the end, the Warriors closed out the quarter on an 11-1 run, going up, 25-11.
The Royals played well early in the second quarter, cutting the Webber International advantage to as low as nine. The temporary blip was soon erased as the Warriors would head into half time ahead, 41-21.
Webber International continued to roll in the third, seeing its advantage reach 27 points.
With the game in hand, the Warriors cleared the bench, eventually defeating the Royals, 73-47.
