Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University women's basketball made the short trip to Lake Wales, Fla., Monday, to take on Warner University. The Warriors and Royals battled it out for four quarters but need an overtime period to settle the bout. The Warriors doubled up Warner in overtime, winning out, 83-75.
Mar'Lisa Braxton had a career night, scoring 23 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Quanthavia Stalworth posted a double-double against the Royals, with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Victoria Baggett was stellar from behind the arch, going 4-4 and finishing the night with 14 points.
The first quarter was quiet, seeing only 15 total points. Webber International jumped ahead early, taking a, 6-5, lead after five minutes of action. The Royals would close out the quarter outscoring the Warriors 4-0, pushing ahead, 9-6.
The offense picked up in the second quarter, with Webber International scorching the Royals for 22 points. The Warriors opened the quarter with a 6-0 run, retaking the lead, 11-9. The lead would change hands four times before Webber International ripped off an 8-2 run, pushing ahead 28-24. The Royals were able to score four points in the final seconds of the quarter, tying the game up, 28-28, at halftime.
Warner would control most of the third quarter, with the Warriors always remaining within striking distance. With three minutes left in the period, Webber International was down, 44-39. The Warriors would go on to close out the third with an 8-0 run, heading into the final quarter up, 47-44.
Webber International would spend the fourth quarter fending off the Royals. Although the Warriors held the lead throughout the fourth, Warner was able to sink a buzzer-beater three to force overtime.
Baggett played hero in the overtime, catching fire from beyond the arch. She would go 3-3 from three-point range, leading Webber International to victory, 83-75, over archrival Warner.
