(RV)Lady Warriors Extend Win Streak to 13 With Sweep Over FMU

Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. - Returning to action for the second day in a row, Webber International University played host to conference for Florida Memorial University. The Warriors (19-1, 9-0) would prevail over the Lions (2-11, 2-6) in straight sets 25-9, 25-20, 25-20. Katie Schueman and Nikki McDaniel would each lead the offense with 8 kills, and Brianna Baez added 7 of her own. Carlee Baxter had 30 assists, and Michelle Calderon anchored the defense with 15 digs. Baez also had 4.5 blocks for the match.
                                                                                                                                           
Set one would see the Warriors in control from start to finish. They began with a 9-0 run fueled by strong serving from Calderon. The Lions would get their closest at 11-5 before Webber used a 14-4 run to win the set. Webber hit .476 in the set, led by McDaniel and Baez with three kills each, and held Florida Memorial to a -.067 hitting percentage.
Set two would start very differently for both sides. Florida Memorial used a much improved defensive effort to keep the score within one point early on. After tying the score at 7-7, the Lions would run off four straight points to take the lead. Webber would find themselves down 12-17 before using an 8-0 run to retake control, keyed once again by Calderon's serve. Florida Memorial cut the lead to 22-20 before Webber scored the final three points to secure the set. Calderon's 2 aces and Baez's 2 kills helped pace the Warriors in the set.
 
Set three would be tight from the beginning. After an early 5-4 lead, the Lions used a 5-3 run to take control early. Webber would tie things up at 11-11, and proceeded to run off a 4-1 run of their own. After momentarily falling behind by one and a 4-0 run by Florida Memorial, the Warriors used another 4-1 run to permanently take the lead. Webber closed out the match on a McDaniel kill. Schueman led the offense in the set with 4 of her kills.
 
Jessica Medina led Florida Memorial with 7 kills, with Raquel Laing chipping in 5. Angelique Lopez would have 19 assists, and Medina also led defensively with 12 digs.
 
The Warriors are set to return to action on Tuesday as they host Florida National University. First serve is set for 7:00PM Eastern time.
