Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – Webber International University women's basketball closed out a 10-game home stand, Saturday, against Thomas University. A great first half allowed the Warriors to cruise to a 77-65, victory.
Mar'Lisa Braxton and Jermisha Mcrae led the Warriors attack, scoring 20 and 17 points, respectively. They were also strong on the boards, grabbing five rebounds each.
The first quarter was tightly contested. Braxton and Mcrae accounted for 12 of Webber International's 16 points in the quarter. After the first 10 minutes of action the Warriors pushed ahead, 16-12.
The Warriors' offense took off in the second quarter, scoring 20 points in the period. Thomas opened the quarter with a 7-2 run, taking a 19-18 advantage. Webber International responded with an 8-2 run of its own to retake the lead at 25-19. The Warriors would never fall behind again, pushing it lead as high as 12 points. At the half, Webber International was up, 36-24.
The Nighthawks offense was strong in the third quarter, outscoring Webber International, 20-19. The Warriors were unfazed, leading the quarter wire-to-wire. Heading into the final period Webber International was ahead, 55-44.
The Warriors had to fend off Thomas in the final quarter. The Nighthawks were able to cut Webber International's advantage to as low as eight points, but the Warriors would eventually win out, 77-65.
