BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University Lady Warriors basketball team faced off against Johnson & Wales University Lady Wildcats at 7 p.m. following the men's game. The Lady Warriors won, 83-55.
The Lady Warriors were the first to put up points, and within 10 minutes of play, the Lady Warriors were on top, 17-6. By the end of the first half, the Lady Warriors had secured a 20-point spread, going into the locker rooms, 39-19.
Into the second half, within 15 minutes of play, the Lady Warriors had extended their lead, 54-27, doubling the Lady Wildcats' score. With 10 minutes left on the clock, the Lady Warriors were up by 31 points, 65-34. The Lady Warriors maintained a steady lead, the remainder of the game and secured the win, extending their winning streak, with a final score of 83-55.
Leading the Lady Warriors on the court were:
Deslyn Applewhaite, with 22 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals;
Shakeria Wilson, with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals;
Jurnee Pettigrew with 22 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals;
Jessica Colson, with 12 points and 3 assists;
Quanthavia Stalworth, with 11 points and 2 rebounds; and
Shalontay Rose, the defensive leader, with 4 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds, and 4 blocks.
The Lady Warriors record moves to 19-4 overall and 12-3 in The Sun Conference.
The Lady Warriors will return to action on Saturday, February 14
th as they host Northwood University Lady Seahawks at 2 p.m. in the Sabbagh Athletic Center.
