Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Webber International University women's soccer faced off against Florida Memorial, Thursday, on the road. The Warriors were fantastic on offense, exploding for eight goals, while allowing only one goal by the Lions. Cierra Abundez netted a first half hat trick with five other Webber International players finding the back of the net as well.
The floodgates opened early in the game for the Warriors, when Abundez scored in the second minute. She netted her second goal in the 17th minute to put Webber International ahead, 2-0. The scoring continued in the 20th minute with Leah Parker scoring her first goal of the season.
Abundez secured her third hat trick of the season in the 27th minute, when she put the ball over the onrushing Florida Memorial keeper, pushing the Warrior lead to 4-0. The Lions were able to get on the board in the 41st minute, but freshman Jennifer Farias found the back of the net with seconds left before the halftime whistle.
The offensive outpouring continued in the second half, with Webber International scoring three more goals. In the 54th minute, freshman Sydney Bailey netted the first goal of her Warriors career. Jenna Murphy scored her fourth goal of 2015 in the 67th minute, putting the Warrior lead at 7-1.
In the 84th minute, junior defender Philippa Wilson closed the night out with the eighth goal of her career, securing the Warriors, 8-1, victory.
The Warriors are back in action, Sunday, October 18 against St. Thomas University.
