Warriors Sneak by Union College, 20-19

Box Score Barbourville, KY. – Webber International University traveled to Barbourville, KY. to face off against the Union College Bulldogs in a 12:00 p.m. showdown. The Warriors had the initials, KD, on the back of their helmets this game in memory of former Warrior Kurt Daniel who passed away over the summer. The Warriors would win the game in the last seconds off a fourth and goal, 20-19.
 
In the first half the Bulldogs outscored the Warriors 13-7. The Warriors would win the toss and differ to the second half. The game was in a deadlock at 0-0 until the Bulldogs intercepted a pass from Billy Pavlock with 14:51 left in the second quarter and returned the ball 27 yards for the touchdown, 7-0 Bulldogs over the Warriors. The Bulldogs would score the first offensive points with 9:08 left in the second on a 34 yard pass from Chandler Whittlesey to Domonique Jefferson, 13-0 Bulldogs on top. The Warriors would score their first point with 6:19 left to play on a 29 yard pass from Billy Pavlock to Trevor Steinke, 13-7 Bulldogs on top ending the half.
 
In the second half the Warriors started out with the ball and would score on a pass from Cameron Joseph to Corey Jackson for a 14 yard touchdown with 10:01 in the third quarter. The Bulldogs would not regain the lead until 5:20 left in the 4th quarter when Chandler Whittlesey would rush one yard for the score and put the Bulldogs on top of the Warriors 19-14. The Warriors would have a nail biting drive, being faced with a 4th and goal from the three yard line and only 30 seconds left in the game, Kody Sallis would receive the go ahead score off a 3 yard pass from Cameron Joseph 20-19. The Warriors Steven Willis would intercept the Bulldogs last hope of winning the game as time expired and returned the interception 60 yards before going out of bounds.
 
The Warriors improve their record to 2-2 overall and the Bulldogs record falls to 0-3.
 
Leading the Warriors on offense were: Cameron Joseph who had 10 completions on 21 attempts and no interceptions while throwing two touchdown passes; Mitch Choquette who caught five passes for 96 yards; Billy Pavlock was the leading rusher with nine carries for 55 yards.
 
Leading the Warriors on the defensive side of the ball were: Steven Willis with 10 solo tackles 9 assisted tackles for a total of 19 tackles and had 2.5 tackles for a total loss of eight yards. Willis also sealed the deal intercepting the last pass and returning it 60 yards before going out of bounds with no time left on the clock; Grady Morrell had 4 solo tackles and 3 assisted for a total of seven tackles; Edward Brown II had three solo tackles and two assisted for a total of five tackles and had an assisted sack for a loss of five yards and 1.5 tackles for a total of 8 yards lost.
 
The Warriors will return to action on Saturday, September 28th as they host Mississippi College at Legion Field in Lake Wales starting at 3:00 p.m.
