BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University women's tennis team is working hard at practice and giving it their all in matches, but they have not broken into the win column yet.
The Lady Warriors opened their season in Daytona Beach where they were hosted by NCAA-I Bethune Cookman University, WIU lost the match and the only winner was
Laura Nowak at #2 singles. She won her match 6-4, 6-1.
The next day, still in Daytona Beach, the Lady Warriors lost a heartbreaker, 4-3, to NCAA-I, Hampton University (VA). The loss dropped Webber to 0-2 overall. Playing NCAA-I rules, WIU won the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. Winning in doubles were: #1

Laura Nowak, 8-5; #2
Nathalia Chaddad &
Holly Parnell, 8-7. Unfortunately, Webber could only pick up two wins in the singles and they were: #1 Stojkovska, 6-1, 6-3; #2 Nowak, 6-1, 6-0.
Playing their third straight day, the WIU lady netters met another NCAA-I school, Oakland University (MI). The match was played at Star Island Resort, in Kissimmee. The only individual winner was
Julija Stojkovska, at #1 singles, 6-2, 6-2. With the 6-1 defeat the Lady Warriors fell to 0-3.
In their first conference match of the season, the Lady Warriors fell to 0-4 overall when they took a 7-2 loss to Southeaster University in Lakeland. Picking up the two points were;
Julija Stojkovska and
Laura Nowak at #1 doubles with an 8-5 win, and Nowak at #2 singles won, 6-2, 6-0.
The Webber women's team plays their first home match on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. They will entertain St. Thomas University on the WIU Campus Courts. Admission is free.
