BABSON PARK, Fla. (March 9, 2020) – Junior Isabelle Niehoff won her fourth singles match in a row in the No. 1 spot and won her fifth doubles match in nine tries, but in the end the Webber International University women's tennis team lost 6-1 vs. NCAA Division-II Winona State University on Monday on the Webber Campus Tennis Courts.

COACH'S CORNER: Head Coach Otis Cutshaw said, "The ladies are playing really hard and we can see the improvement from the previous matches. We are almost there and need to continue to fight and grind."
 
Doubles

• Webber nearly won the doubles point as Isabelle Niehoff and Svenja Koenig won 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, but at No. 2 doubles Jenna Fosdick and Lily-Rose Rochat gave up a late lead and lost in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-4).
• Esmeralda Fernandez and Megan Warner lost 6-1 at No. 3 doubles.

 
Singles

• Isabelle Niehoff captured the lone point of the day for the Lady Warriors by cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles.
• The Warriors fell in two third-set super tiebreakers after winning the first set in both the No. 2 and No. 3 singles spots as Jenna Fosdick lost 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-5) in the No. 2 position while Svenja Koenig fell 3-6, 6-0, 1-0 (11-9) in the three spot.
• In the No. 4 singles spot, Lily-Rose Rochat lost a close tiebreaker in the second set, falling 7-5, 7-6 (9-7).

 

• Webber women's tennis fell to 1-11 overall while Winona State improved to 7-2.

 
Next Up: In one week's time, the Lady Warriors will battle Asbury College (Ky.) at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 16, on the Webber Campus Tennis Courts.
