BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Women's volleyball team won their first two home matches as they participated in the WIU Tri Match held in the Sabbagh Athletic Center on Saturday, August 25.
GAME 1
The Lady Warriors kicked off the WIU Tri Match when they hosted the lady Mariners of Costal Georgia at 1:00p.m. The Lady Warriors won the match with a score of 3-2 (25-20, 23-25, 25-13, 26-24, 15-13) and moves the Lady Warriors record to 1-0 as the Lady Mariners fall to 0-1.
Shauna Brown's 15 Kills out of 22 attempts (.545%) and
Katie Lindstrom's 50 assists led the Lady Warriors offense to their first victory. On the defensive side of the ball,
Tanner Garbutt led the Lady Warriors with 25 digs.
GAME 2
The second match of the day was between the Lady Royals from Warner University and the Lady Mariners. The Lady Mariners won with a score of 3-1 (15-25, 27-25, 25-21, 25-23) which improves their record to 1-1 as the Lady Royals fall to 0-1.
Leading the Lady Mariners on the court were Lindsay Herman with 16 kills. On the defensive side Kansas Rodison lead the Lady Mariners with 23 digs.
Kimberlee Thomas lead the Lady Royals with her first double-double of the year recording 11 kills (.476%) and 18 digs.
GAME 3
In the final match of the day, the Lady Warriors faced off against their Crooked Lake Rivals, the Lady Royals of Warner University. The Lady Warriors would prevail over the Lady Royals with a score of 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-23).With the win, the Lady Warriors improve their record to 2-0 and drop the Lady Royals record to 0-2.
Once again,
Shauna Brown lead the Lady Warriors on offense with 10 kills out of 17 attempts (.412%) along with Michelle Einzingers 11 kills (.353%).
Katie Lindstrom paced the Lady Warriors offense with 35 assists. Lady Warrior newcomer
Karimah Hay recorded her first double-double of the year with 11 kills and 13 digs. Once again,
Tanner Garbutt lead the Lady Warriors defense by grabbing 17 digs and helping the Lady Warriors put the Lady Royals away.
Following up her first double-double of the season, Kimberlee Thomas once again paced the Lady Warriors with another double-double, accumulating 12 kills (.357%) and 11 digs. Allison Kennedy paced the Lady Royals back line chipping in with 13 digs.
