Lady Warriors End 10 Game Losing Streak With Win Over Lady Wildcats

Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University Lady Warriors basketball team hosted conference opponent Johnson & Wales University Lady Wildcats on Friday, February 17, at 7:00 p.m. The Lady Warriors overpowered the Lady Wildcats ending their 10 game losing streak with a score of 59-50.
 
The Lady Wildcats started off the scoring for the night two minutes after the game began. The Lady Warriors would rally and tie the game with the Lady Wildcats with 9:34 left in the half. Whitney Kelly gave the Lady Warriors the lead with 8:35 left in the half. The Lady Warriors and Lady Wildcats would battle back and forth ultimately they would head into the Locker-room tied at 25 points each at the half.
 
The Lady Warriors shot 28.6% from the field in the first half, 18.8% from behind the ark, and 50% from the line. The Lady Wildcats shot 27.6% from the field, 10% from behind the ark, and 80% from the line.
 
The Lady Warriors came out from the locker-room on fire pulling out to an early six point lead over the Lady Wildcats, 33-27. The Lady Wildcats would rally and take the lead with 15:20 left to play, 34-33. Both teams would fight back and forth for control of the game and with 6:34 left to play the game was tied at 43-43. With 5:55 left to play Sara Dileonardo would give the Lady Warriors the spark that they were searching for by making a three point shot, 43-43. The Lady Warriors would continue to extend their lead over the Lady Wildcats until the end of the game winning, 59-50.
 
During the game the Lady Warriors outshot the Lady Wildcats from the field and from behind the ark. The Lady Wildcats outshot the Lady Warriors at the line.  
 
Leading the Lady Warriors on the court were Sarah Dileonardo and Kala Alicea. Sarah Dileonardo posted another double double scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds, one assist, two blocks, and four steals. Kala Alicea scored 12 points, four rebounds, three assists, one block, and one steal.
 
Leading the Lady Wildcats on the court was Myia Russell scoring 16 points, seven rebounds, one block, and two steals.
 
The Lady Warriors record improves to 3-25 overall and 2-11 in The Sun Conference and the Lady Wildcats record falls to 7-16 overall and 2-11 in The Sun Conference.
 
The Lady Warriors return to action in the Sabbagh Athletic Center to celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, February 18, as they host conference opponent Northwood University starting at 2:00 p.m.
