Babson Park, Fla. – The Webber International University Lady Warriors tennis team defeated the Seahawks, from Northwood University, 5-4 in a very close match on the WIU Campus Courts.

After doubles play the Warriors found themselves up 2-1. Winning #1 doubles 9-7 was the team of Laura Nowak and Helen Perry. The #3 team of Jeanette Hicks and Anna Culaba won their match by default.

The Warriors went in to singles confident but also knowing that they would have to work hard with a 2-1 lead after doubles. The Seahawks came back in singles play and tied the match with #5 singles still on the court. Winners in singles for the Warriors were: #6 – Culaba – Default; #4 – Leticia Tomb – 6-1, 6-0; #5 – Jeanette Hicks – 6-2, 6-1.

Webber International Lady Warriors are now 7-1 overall and Northwood fell to 2-5. The Warriors will be back in action Monday, March 7, as they travel to Kissimmee to face Olivet Nazarene (IL) starting at 3:30 p.m.
