Babson Park, Fla. - The Lady Warriors tennis team from Webber International University won their season opener 9-0 over Ave Maria University. It was not only the season opener for WIU, but it was an important match in The Sun Conference. The Lady Warriors are 1-0 and Ave Maria starts their inaugural season in intercollegiate tennis, 0-1.

Winning in doubles for Webber were: #1 Laura Nowak and Helen Perry, 8-1; #2 Natalia Chaddad and Anna Culaba, 8-1; #3 Leticia Tomb and Jeanette Hicks, 8-1.

Singles winners were: #1 Nowak, 6-1, 6-0; #2 Chaddad, 6-0, 6-1; #3 Perry, 3-6, 7-6, 10-4; #4 Tomb, 6-3, 6-4; #5 Culaba, 6-2, 6-1; #6 Hicks, 6-1, 6-1.

The Lady Warriors next match is on Tuesday, February 15, at 2 p.m. when they host Southeastern University in a Sun Conference matchup.
