Babson Park, Fla. - Webber International University sends 3 athletes to the Barefoot Wine Championship Beach Volleyball Cup on Thursday August 26-29th in Chicago Illinois.
This tournament invites winners from 24 leagues across the nation to compete against each other to be crowned the top up and coming beach volleyball team in the nation as well as a shot at the $5,000 purse. WIU sends Clint and Matt Whelan brother's from Smithtown, NY on the Men's side and Noelle Bay Selden, NY on the women's side. These 3 athletes' will be representing Webber International University as they are attending the institution obtaining their MBA's as well as being a part of the beach volleyball team there.
Tim Edfors, Head Coach of the Warriors for the past 5 year is excited to see his new beach program taking off. Edfors has been playing and training beach since the early 80's and finds it very rewarding to take elite indoor players such as the group above and turn them into elite beach players.
Edfors started the first collegiate beach team in the country last year which offered beach scholarships. He now has 10 on his roster and has another six committed to come January of 2011.
