Lady Warriors Fall to Royals, 78-83

BABSON PARK, Fla.-After an attempted comeback in the last 10 minutes of the game, the Webber International University women's basketball team fell to conference foe Warner University, Saturday (Jan 23) at the Sabbagh Athletic Center to a score of 78-83.  WIU's record is now 7-10 overall and 3-4 in The Sun Conference.

In this meeting of the Battle of Crooked Lake, The Royals (9-11, 3-4 TSC) were in control for most of the first half, allowing the Lady Warriors to take the lead three times.  Nikki King led the half for WIU with nine points and seven rebounds.

WIU attempted to come back in the second half, tying the game up at 53 at the 9:31 mark.  But with Warner's Erin Henry stealing the show going 7 for 10 for free throws, the Royals continued to dominate and won the game, 83-78.

King led the Lady Warriors, collecting five blocks, nine rebounds and 26 points.  Chasity Edwards has 12 points while Ashley Butler had 11 of her own.  Dione'shia Dunbar led the team with nine assists and seven steals.

The Lady Warriors will be in action Saturday, January 30 as they travel to take on conference opponent Edwards Waters College.  Tipoff is at 2:00 p.m.
