BABSON PARK, Fla. — The Webber International University men's soccer team tied Warner University 1-1 in the first Crooked Lake Derby played at Warrior Grass Field Thursday afternoon.  

Warner scored first in the 11th minute of play. Senior Jackson Davenport of Warner shot a penalty kick that found the back of the Webber goal for the Royals' seventh goal of the season. 

Webber attacked the Warner goal throughout the half. They finished the half with 13 shots to the Royals four. Corner kicks favored the Warriors 5-3 with Warner scoring the only goal of the half. The Warriors took goal attempts of 4-0 in the half with Webber having eight shots on goal and Warner having four. Goalkeeper Jared Crossley of Warner had seven saves on the evening with the Warriors having three saves on four shots on target.  

It would take Webber another 22 minutes or so to level up the match, however in the 68th minute the Warriors found the back of the net. Senior Rodnny González drilled in a free kick in the 68th minute for what would be the equalizer to send the match to a 1-1 draw. The goal was his third goal of the season for the Warriors. In the end, however, Warner's backline was able to deny Webber into the final whistle to earn a hard-fought point on the day in the second thrilling contest. 

The Webber outshot the Royals 21-7 with an 8-4 edge in shots on goal. Webber corner kicks numbered five while the Royals had three. The Royals keeper collected seven saves to hold off the Warriors attack, as the Webber squad collected three saves on four shots on target throughout the contest. The intense rivalry of both teams resulted in 29 fouls throughout the game, Warner committing 17 fouls while the Warriors committed 12 fouls. Five yellow cards were issued throughout the game. Two belonged to the Warriors, while three belonged to the Royals.  

Gonzalez led the Warriors offensively with seven shots, including four on goal. Otto Amesty added five shots and placed two on target, while Justin Ruiz recorded four shots.

Webber goalkeeper Alvaro Becerril Garcia played all 90 minutes in net and recorded three saves.

The Warriors continued to pressure Warner late in the contest but were unable to find the game-winning goal. Warner goalkeeper Mikey Melvin finished with seven saves as Webber earned the draw.

Webber moves to 2-1-1 on the season following the non-conference draw.
