BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Webber International University women's volleyball team battled Keiser University on Saturday afternoon but fell to the Seahawks, 3-1, in Sun Conference action at Jessica Costanzo Court inside the Sabbagh Athletic Center.
The Seahawks took the opening set, 25-19, before Webber responded with a 25-21 victory in the second set to even the match. Keiser regained the lead with a 25-20 win in the third set before closing out the match, 25-16, in the fourth.
Cristina Marrero and Ninette Romero Lopez led the Warriors offensively with 10 kills apiece. Marrero added six digs and one block assist, while Romero Lopez finished with a .238 hitting percentage.
Lucianna Marinella recorded eight kills, 21 assists, one service ace and nine digs while adding three total blocks. Brianna Adams contributed seven kills and a team-high four block assists.
Yaleesmar Rivera Rosa added eight kills, while Kalyn Morgan recorded 10 digs. Katelyn Bobo also helped direct the Webber offense with 22 assists and one service ace.
Defensively, Alejandra Aponte anchored the Warriors with a match-high 26 digs. Marrero added six digs, while Kara Doan recorded 10 digs.
With the result, Webber falls to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in Sun Conference play. Keiser improves to 5-6 overall and 2-1 in conference action.
