MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Webber International University men's soccer team opened its road schedule in impressive fashion on Saturday, earning a 1-0 shutout victory over Florida Memorial University.
The Warriors (2-0-0) and Lions (1-1-1)Â battled through a scoreless opening half before Webber broke through in the second half.
Jack Chalmers found the back of the net in the 55th minute, scoring his first goal of the season to give Webber a 1-0 advantage.
Chalmers' goal came at the 54:30 mark, with
Rick Mael Petit Frere providing the assist.
From there, the Webber defense held strong as the Warriors protected their one-goal advantage for the remainder of the match. Florida Memorial recorded 16 shots throughout the contest, including four on goal, but Webber's goalkeeper
Alejandro Moreno turned away every shot he faced to preserve the victory.
The clean sheet marked Moreno's first shutout as a Warrior, as the goalkeeper recorded four saves in the contest.
Webber finished the match with seven shots, putting five on target. Chalmers,
Mateo Lozada,
Justin Ruiz,
Felipe Villa and
Dylan Salomon each recorded a shot on goal for the Warriors.
The victory gives Webber its first road win of the 2026 season and moves the Warriors forward with momentum after a strong defensive performance against the Lions.

The Warriors will remain on the road for their next contest, traveling to face Thomas University on Monday, August 31. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
