Warriors Sweep Doubleheader Against Bobcats

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Baseball team completed a doubleheader sweep of St. Thomas on Friday in Babson Park, rolling to a 12-2 win in Game 1 before following with a 10-4 victory in Game 2. The Warriors scored 22 runs across the twin bill and did most of their damage with big crooked-number innings.

In the opener, Webber broke through with three runs in the third, added four more in the fourth, and put the game away with a five-run seventh in a 12-2 win. The Warriors' third inning was the turning point, as Ty Mathews ripped a two-run double to left center, Steven Nitch followed with an RBI single. In the fourth, Keegan Martin doubled home a run, Mathews scored Martin on a single, and Mike Cuello capped the frame with a two-run single up the middle. In the seventh, Martin and Mathews added RBI singles before Cuello launched a two-run homer to left center to walk the game off 12-2.

Game 2 featured another fast start from the Warriors, who answered St. Thomas' two-run top of the first with five runs in the bottom half, then added two more in the second on the way to a 10-4 victory. Webber's first-inning rally included RBI walks from Jalen Martinez, Austen Jaslove, and Will Gisriel before David Zamora lined a two-run single up the middle to plate two more. In the second, Steven Nitch brought home Ty Mathews with a sacrifice fly. Tugg Hollandsworth later homered to right in the fifth, and Gisriel sent a ball into centerfield scoring Jaslove and Kaleb Henry to put the Warriors firmly ahead 10-4. Zach Hessler closed out the game for Warriors as they earned their 14th straight victory.

Cuello Mathews powered the Game 1 offense with four RBIs each, while Martin and Nitch also delivered key run-producing hits. In Game 2, Zamora's two-run single, Hollandsworth's solo homer, and Gisriel's two RBI single highlighted another balanced Webber attack. St. Thomas managed just two runs on five hits in the opener and four runs on four hits in the nightcap.
