Marietta, GA – The 7th ranked Webber International Flag Football team dropped a tight Sun Conference road contest on Saturday, falling 13-12 to Life (Ga.) after a late comeback bid came up just short. The Warriors struck first and tried to tie things late, but the Running Eagles held on in a one-point battle.
Webber opened the scoring midway through the first quarter when Luzariana Herrera found the end zone on a touchdown play to cap an 11-play, 66-yard drive and give the Warriors a 6-0 lead. Life answered in the second quarter with a 17-yard rushing touchdown by Cheyenne Brooks, and the successful extra point pushed the Running Eagles in front 7-6 heading into halftime.
After a scoreless third quarter, Life added another touchdown early in the fourth to extend its lead to 13-6. Webber responded with one final push, as Herrera connected with Rylee Bolser on a 32-yard touchdown strike with 3:41 remaining to trim the deficit to 13-12. The Warriors were unable to find the go-ahead conversion, and Life held on over the closing minutes to seal the win.
Herrera paced the Webber offense by completing 29-of-46 passes for 219 yards and one touchdown, while Bolser added a passing score of her own and starred as a receiver with 13 catches for 89 yards and a touchdown. Yasmin Lott also hauled in a touchdown reception, while Ijyana Edwards chipped in four catches for 41 yards. As a team, the Warriors totaled 245 yards of offense, with 251 coming through the air.
Defensively, Bolser led the way with 14 total tackles, while Savannah Cox added an interception and 15 return yards. Chloe Price recorded a sack for the Warriors, who also forced multiple turnovers to keep the game within reach throughout the afternoon.
