West Palm Beach, FL – The Webber International Baseball team fell in its Saturday doubleheader against Keiser in West Palm Beach, dropping Game 1 by an 8-0 score before bouncing back with a much more competitive effort in Game 2, ultimately falling 10-4. The Warriors collected six hits in the opener and seven more in the second game, but Keiser capitalized on control issues and timely hitting to take both conference contests.
In the first game, Webber had trouble breaking through offensively despite six hits. Keegan Martin, Austen Jaslove, Tugg Hollandsworth, Jalen Martinez, Steven Nitch, and David Zamora each recorded a hit, but the Warriors were unable to bring a run across in the 8-0 loss. Webber turned four double plays defensively, with Jaslove and Martin helping anchor a strong infield effort, but Keiser scored in five different innings to take control.
Trevor Carter got the start for the Warriors in Game 1, and Webber's defense helped him work out of early trouble with a key double play in the opening inning. Still, Keiser took advantage of 10 walks and four hit batters by Webber pitching, finishing with nine hits in the shutout victory.
The Warriors answered much better in the second game, scoring in four different innings and keeping pace early. Webber grabbed its first run in the second inning, then added single runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth. Keiser answered with a pair in the fourth and then broke the game open late, but the Warriors showed more offensive life throughout the nightcap.
Keegan Martin paced Webber in Game 2, going 1-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, and two walks. Ty Mathews added a solo home run, while Steven Nitch drove in a run and Mike Cuello and Skyler Schulz each scored once. Martin's RBI double in the fourth helped Webber stay within striking distance after Schulz opened the frame with a single, and Mathews' homer provided another highlight at the plate for the Warriors.
Even with the stronger offensive showing in Game 2, Webber could not overcome Keiser's 10-run attack. The Warriors drew seven walks and finished with seven hits, but Keiser capitalized on 16 walks issued by Webber pitching and turned a close game into a 10-4 final.
Across the doubleheader, Martin led the way offensively with two hits and two RBIs on the day, while the Warriors continued to get steady contributions from the top and middle of the lineup. Webber's defense also turned five double plays over the two games, but Keiser's ability to cash in scoring chances proved to be the difference in both ends of the twin bill
