Warriors Split Doubleheader, Take Series over Mustangs

Babson Park, FL – The 8th ranked Webber International baseball team split its Sunday doubleheader with Morningside on Sunday. dropping Game 1 (7 innings) 6-1 before bouncing back to take Game 2, 7-6. With the split, the Warriors took home the series 3-1.

Game 1 – Morningside 6, Webber 1 (7 innings)

The Mustangs broke through with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth, using back-to-back RBI doubles to grab a 2-0 lead. Webber starter Mason Veronezi settled in from there and kept the Warriors within striking distance, working 4.0 innings with four strikeouts.

Morningside added to its advantage in the sixth with a solo home run. Webber responded in the bottom half, getting on the board when Mike Cuello lined an RBI single that brought home Austen Jaslove to make it 3-1.

The Mustangs put the game out of reach in the seventh, as a bases-clearing double pushed the margin to 6-1. Webber finished with five hits in the opener, with Jaslove, Tugg Hollandsworth, Ty Mathews, David Zamora, and Cuello all collecting knocks.

Game 2 – Webber 7, Morningside 6

After Morningside plated three runs in the top of the third to take a 3-0 lead, the Warriors' offense erupted in the bottom half with a seven-run inning. The rally featured RBI hits from Keegan Martin and Jaslove, a sacrifice fly from Hollandsworth, and a momentum-swinging three-run homer by Mathews. Webber wasn't done there, as Fabian Amaro capped the frame with an RBI double to make it 7-3.

On the mound, Trevor Carter gave Webber a strong start, striking out seven across 5.0 innings. Morningside chipped away with a run in the sixth, then made things tight in the ninth on a two-run homer, but the Warriors held on to complete the split. Gregory Bori covered the final 2.0 innings to secure the win.

In game two, Jaslove went 2-for-5 with an RBI, Amaro finished 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Mathews drove in three with his third-inning blast as Webber closed the day with the 7-6 victory.
