Babson Park, FL – Webber Softball dropped a three-game SUN Conference series to New College of Florida at home, falling 3-2 in eight innings in the opener, 10-4 in game two, and 1-0 in Saturday's finale. The Warriors out-hit the Mighty Banyans 20-17 over the weekend, but three Webber errors and a pair of late New College swings proved to be the difference.
Game 1 – New College 3, Webber 2 (8 innings)
Webber had traffic on the bases throughout the opener, finishing with nine hits, but New College escaped multiple jams and pushed across the deciding run in the eighth.
After New College plated an unearned run in the third and a solo homer in the fourth, Eliana Hernandez answered with a momentum-shifting two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth to give Webber a 2-2 tie and the Warriors' biggest swing of the day.
The game stayed deadlocked into extras before New College scratched across an unearned run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly to take the lead.
