Warriors Lead Wire-to-Wire in Victory over Owls

Memphis, TN – The 8th ranked Webber International Men's Lacrosse team posted a wire-to-wire victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating William Woods (Mo.) 12-7 as the Warriors built a five-goal first-quarter lead and never looked back.

Webber exploded out of the gate with five goals in the opening period, sparked by a dominant start from Nick Sheaffer, who scored three times in the first quarter as the Warriors grabbed a 5-0 advantage. Webber continued to control the tempo early in the second, adding four more goals to take a 9-2 halftime lead.

Sheaffer finished with a monster day, totaling seven goals and two assists to pace the Warriors' offense. Jeremiah Loo stuffed the stat sheet with two goals and three assists, while Sam Shields added three goals and an assist, including a pair of assisted finishes in the first half as Webber's attack stayed efficient.

William Woods tried to climb back into it late, outscoring Webber 4-3 in the fourth, but Webber answered each push and kept the cushion intact. In the cage, Liam Murphy turned aside 14 shots to help Webber weather a 37-shot effort from the Owls.

At the X, Webber controlled possession all afternoon, winning 18 of 23 faceoffs, led by Israel Miranda (13 wins) and Alan Basic (5 wins). The Warriors also went 22-for-25 on clears, helping them maintain control in key stretches and close out the win.
