Babson Park, FL – The 8th ranked Webber International Baseball team completed a Saturday doubleheader sweep of Morningside, rallying late for a 5-3 win in game one before erupting offensively in a 15-5 victory in game two.
Game 1 – Webber 5, Morningside 3
The opener stayed tight through the middle innings before Webber delivered the decisive blow in its final at-bat. After Morningside struck first with two runs in the fourth, Webber answered with single runs in the fifth and sixth to keep pace, highlighted by Matty Davis scoring on a wild pitch and an RBI walk that brought home Ty Mathews to knot the game.
Morningside briefly regained the lead in the sixth on a solo home run, but Webber saved its biggest swing for the seventh. With two aboard, Mike Cuello launched a walk-off three-run homer to seal the comeback and give the Warriors the 5-3 win.
On the mound, Ryan Franklin worked 5.0 innings, allowing two runs (one earned), and Gregory Bori bridged the final two frames as Webber closed out the victory.
Game 2 – Webber 15, Morningside 5
Webber's bats exploded in game two, scoring 10 runs across the second and third innings to seize control early. The Warriors plated four in the second behind RBI hits from Austen Jaslove, Keegan Martin, Fabian Amaro, and a run-producing double play, then kept rolling in the third with a six-run outburst that featured a two-RBI single by Davis, RBI knocks from Martin and Amaro, and additional damage created on the bases.
Morningside attempted to chip away with a three-run fourth and added single runs in the fifth and sixth, but Webber continued to answer. The Warriors tacked on three more in the fifth, highlighted by Martin's two-run single, then added to the lead with a Jaslove solo home run in the sixth and a late RBI single in the eighth to cap the scoring.
On the mound, Austin Dobbins led the way with seven strikeouts in 4.0 innings, while Webber's bullpen pieced together the rest as the Warriors finished the night with 17 hits in the run-rule margin win.
