Memphis, TN – The 8th ranked Webber International University Men's Lacrosse team outlasted William Penn University in a back-and-forth neutral-site battle Friday night (February 27, 2026), earning a 13-12 overtime win after erasing multiple deficits and closing the game with two of the final three goals.
William Penn jumped out early, taking a 3-1 lead after the first quarter, but the Warriors settled in during the second. Webber scored four times in the period to keep the game within reach at halftime, trailing 6-5. The teams stayed tight through the third, with the Statesmen holding a slim 8-7 edge heading into the fourth.
The final 15 minutes turned into a track meet. Webber put together a surge to flip momentum and grabbed an 11-10 advantage on an unassisted finish by Sam Shields at the 9:23 mark. William Penn answered back to tie, then took a 12-11 lead with 4:30 remaining, forcing Webber to respond late. The equalizer came at 2:29 when Nick Sheaffer buried the tying goal to send the contest to overtime, where Jeremiah Loo ended it with the game-winner at 3:32.
Loo led all scorers with five goals and an assist, while Shields (2G, 1A) and Sheaffer (2G, 1A) each posted three-point nights. In goal, Liam Murphy earned the win with eight saves as Webber generated consistent pressure offensively, finishing with 43 shots and 30 shots on goal.
Webber also controlled key possession areas, winning 18 of 28 faceoffs and collecting 32 ground balls, helping the Warriors survive a tight finish and improve to 2-1 on the season.
