Babson Park, FL – The 8th ranked Webber International Baseball team outlasted Mount Mercy in an 11-inning thriller on Friday, walking off with a 4-3 win at home to open the series in Babson Park.
Webber struck first in the bottom of the first. After Keegan Martin reached and eventually moved into scoring position, Ty Mathews brought him home with an RBI groundout to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead.
The Warriors doubled the advantage in the third, capitalizing on pressure on the bases as Martin scored to make it 2-0. Mount Mercy responded in the fifth on a solo homer from Christian Graves, cutting the margin to one, but Webber answered right back in the sixth when Fabian Amaro launched a solo shot to push the lead back to 3-1.
The Mustangs evened it in the seventh with a two-run homer from Sam Wiese, and the game stayed knotted at 3-3 through the final four innings as both bullpens locked in.
In the 11th, Webber finally broke through. David Zamora came around to score the winning run, and Mathews delivered again—this time with a walk-off sacrifice fly to right field to seal the 4-3 victory.
On the mound, Ryan Franklin gave Webber a strong start, punching out eight over 5.0 innings while allowing just one run. Zach Hessler earned the win with three scoreless frames and six strikeouts in relief. Offensively, Webber piled up 15 hits, led by three-hit nights from Tugg Hollandsworth and Skyler Schulz, while Martin and Zamora added two hits apiece.
