Babson Park, FL – The 7th ranked Webber International Flag Football team took on the Hope International Royals Wednesday morning to open their season. The Warriors came out the gate swinging, and took down the Royals 38-0 in a wire-to-wire victory.
The Warriors set the tone immediately, scoring 13 points in the first quarter and never looking back. Emma Balacco opened the scoring with a lightning strike at the 10:30 mark of the first—finishing a play that started with a short completion to Yasmin Lott before Balacco broke free for a 50-yard touchdown. Later in the quarter, Luzariana Herrera connected with Kaitlyn Sigmundi for a 3-yard TD, then hit the extra-point pass to make it 13-0.
Webber's offense kept humming in the second. Herrera found Cheyenne Durand for a 41-yard touchdown at 11:50, and with 1:24 left in the half she hit Sigmundi again—this time for a 23-yard score—as the Warriors carried a 26-0 lead into the break.
After a scoreless third quarter, Webber put the finishing touches on the shutout in the fourth. Herrera tossed a 5-yard touchdown to Savannah Cox at 7:19, and then capped the day with another scoring strike to Sigmundi for 6 yards at 2:23, sealing the 38-0 final.
Herrera paced the attack with 353 passing yards and six touchdowns (27-for-38), while Durand led all receivers with 96 yards and Sigmundi posted a huge day with eight catches, 70 yards, and three TDs. Defensively, Webber's unit was just as sharp—allowing no points and coming up with two interceptions, including picks by Balacco and Sigmundi, while Kahliya Gaitor recorded two sacks (12 yards) to keep Hope off schedule all afternoon.
