Warriors Fall Just Short Against New College, 3-2

Webber International University men's soccer battled New College of Florida on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-2 in a closely contested match.

New College opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Jaden Williams found the back of the net. The Warriors responded just minutes later, as Rodnny Gonzalez scored in the 23rd minute to level the match at 1-1.

New College regained the lead in the 33rd minute through Ducamel Jeannestin, taking a 2-1 advantage into halftime. The Mighty Banyans extended their lead shortly after the break when Peter Simmons scored in the 48th minute.

Webber continued to battle and pulled one back in the 75th minute. Vitalis Takawira Jr. found the net off an assist from Norbey Rincon Miranda, cutting the deficit to 3-2. The Warriors continued searching for the equalizer but were unable to break through before the final whistle.

Webber finished the match with seven shots, including five on goal, while New College recorded 10 shots with five on target. The Warriors held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The physical contest featured 32 total fouls, with Webber committing 15 and New College 17. The Warriors received five yellow cards, issued to Brandon Apon, Dylan Salomon, Norbey Rincon Miranda, Rodnny Gonzalez, and Otto Amesty. New College received two yellow cards.
Saturday's match also marked Senior Day for the Warriors, as Webber honored its graduating seniors for their dedication and contributions to the men's soccer program. The senior class was recognized prior to the match, celebrating their commitment to the program both on and off the field throughout their careers at Webber.
