Lakeland, FL – The Webber International Men's Basketball team fell on the road Saturday night, dropping an 86-68 SUN Conference decision to Southeastern University at The Furnace. The Warriors move to 9-14 overall (4-7), while the Fire improve to 19-4 (8-3).
Webber briefly grabbed the early momentum with a 7-2 lead four minutes in, but Southeastern responded with a surge to take control of the first half. The Fire led 42-26 at the break, capped by a 6-0 spurt over the final 1:35 to create separation heading into halftime.
The Warriors showed life after the intermission, matching Southeastern point-for-point for much of the second half and trimming the margin to seven at 69-62 with 4:42 left. Southeastern answered down the stretch, getting to the line and then sealing it with back-to-back three-pointers from Jayson Nixon at the 1:16 and 0:51 marks to push the advantage back out to 21.
Thomas Morgan paced Webber with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Landon Tillman added 15 points and Johnny Torrence Jr. finished with 13 points and four assists. As a team, Webber shot 39.7% (27-of-68) and went 4-of-22 from three, while Southeastern hit 10 threes and shot 47.5% overall, also winning the rebounding battle 42-31.
For the Fire, Mylo Santos led all scorers with 24 points, Nixon poured in 23 with five triples, and Daivion Traylor chipped in 13 points as Southeastern used a strong first half and a late closing run to complete the conference win.
