Babson Park, FL — In a game marred by a lightning delay that took over 2 hours, Webber International Football fell 38–14 to Campbellsville (Ky.) on Saturday afternoon in a nonconference matchup at Warrior Turf Field.
Campbellsville struck first with a 24-yard field goal at 11:01 of the opening quarter, then made it 10–0 on a 50-yard rushing score with 7:04 left in the first. Webber answered with a big defensive play: MarQuez Griffin jumped a route and raced 55 yards for a pick-six at 2:08 to pull the Warriors within 10–7 after Rourke Davis converted the PAT. The Tigers closed the period with a 48-yard touchdown pass at :04 for a 17–7 lead.
The visitors added an 11-yard TD pass at 9:48 of the second to take a 24–7 advantage into halftime. Campbellsville opened the third quarter with a 63-yard rushing touchdown at 15:00 and later returned a fumble for a score at 1:00 to push the margin to 38–7.
Webber's offense found paydirt late. Johnny Lewis Jr. engineered a 5-play, 68-yard march and connected with Jahari Treasure on a 49-yard touchdown down the right sideline at 1:45 of the fourth; Davis' PAT capped the scoring at 38–14.
Despite the final, the Warrior defense produced takeaways all afternoon, intercepting four passes. In addition to Griffin's pick-six, Caden Marsh (45-yard return), Harper Henson, and Matthew Smiciklas each notched interceptions. Caden Morrell paced the tackling effort with 7 total stops and a sack (8 yards), while Jonathan St. Jacque added 5 tackles and a sack (7 yards).
Offensively, Lewis Jr. finished 9-for-11 for 114 yards and a TD, with Treasure leading the receivers (3-63-1, long 49). Davaughn Thomas led the ground game with 6 carries for 37 yards. As a team, Webber ran 58 plays for 93 total yards; Campbellsville totaled 473 yards on 62 plays.
