LAKE WALES, FL. — Webber International broke through late and made it stand up, knocking off host Warner 1–0 on Tuesday night (Aug. 26) behind a 74th-minute winner from Jack Chalmers and a clean sheet from goalkeeper Alvaro Becerrril Garcia.
After a scoreless first half, the Warriors grew into the match, generating six shots after the break and finally cashing in when Chalmers buried the decisive strike for his first goal of the season and the eventual game-winner. Chalmers finished with two shots (one on target), while Jesús Perez spearheaded the attack with a team-high four shots and three on frame as Webber kept pressure on the Royals' back line.
On the other end, Becerrril Garcia turned away all three shots on goal he faced to secure the shutout. Warner's keeper Mikey Melvin was busy as well, recording five saves, but could not keep out Chalmers' effort. The Royals out-shot Webber 14–10 overall, yet the Warriors owned the edge in shots on goal, 6–3, and earned a 7–4 advantage in corner kicks.
The second half featured most of the drama, including three cautions—two to Warner (49:30, 68:11) and one to Webber's Tyler Keating (76:24). Webber withstood a physical night (22 total fouls, 14 charged to Warner) and managed the closing minutes to see out the road victory.
