Perez’s Second Half Winner Lifts Warriors Over Nighthawks

Babson Park, FL. — Webber International Men's soccer rallied from an early deficit and rode a second-half winner to a 2–1 victory over Thomas on Saturday afternoon (Aug. 30). The result lifts the Warriors to 2-1-0 on the year while Thomas moves to 1-1-0.

Thomas struck first in the 12th minute when Camilo Penafiel finished from Daniel Mauldin (11:07). Webber found its response before the break: Tyler Keating leveled in the 32nd minute off a tidy feed from Jack Chalmers (31:31), sending the match to halftime tied 1–1.

Momentum swung late in the second half. Thomas' Luke Guerrier was sent off after receiving a second yellow at 73:34, and the Warriors capitalized less than a minute later. Jesús Perez buried the go-ahead goal at 74:47, set up by Miguel de Silva, to make it 2–1. Webber saw out the final minutes despite a late red card to Dylan Hawley (87:13), closing the match 10-v-10.

Webber held a narrow 8–7 edge in shots (5–3 on frame) and the sides split corners 4–4. Keating and Hawley each logged three attempts while Perez led all players with four. Goalkeeper Álvaro Becerril Garcia made two saves, including a stop on a 71st-minute header, while TU's Damien Fortin finished with three saves. The contest featured nine cards in total (two reds).
