Jacksonville, FL – The Webber International Softball team headed to Jacksonville on Wednesday to take on the Trinity Baptist Eagles in a doubleheader. The Warriors and Eagles split the day 1-1.
Game 1: Trinity Baptist edges Webber International in Pitcher's Duel, 1-0
The opener featured a tightly contested pitchers' duel, with both teams struggling to generate offense. Trinity Baptist scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the third inning. With bases loaded, Young drove in Payne on a fielder's choice, providing all the offense needed. Webber International threatened late in the seventh inning when Haley Saylor led off with a single, but they failed to capitalize, leaving him stranded. The pitching from Trinity Baptist remained resilient, holding Webber International to just one hit in a 1-0 victory.
Game 2: Webber International Rebounds with a Dominant Offensive Performance, 14-3
Webber International responded emphatically in the second game, erupting offensively from the start. A three-run first inning set the tone, sparked by hits from Rachel Lamoureaux, Saylor, and Chloe Rayner. Trinity Baptist managed to respond with a single run in their half, but Webber International quickly expanded their lead with an eight-run second inning, aided by timely hitting and several defensive miscues from Trinity Baptist.
The offensive surge continued into the third inning, with Webber adding two more runs to extend their advantage to 13-1. Trinity Baptist attempted a rally in the bottom of the third, cutting the lead slightly to 13-3 after a two-run double from Young. However, Webber International shut down any further attempts, adding one more run in the fifth to cap off a decisive 14-3 win.
