Sarasota, FL - The Webber International Baseball team traveled to Sarasota to take on the New College of Florida Mighty Banyans for a SUN Conference set. The Warriors took three of four from the Mighty Banyans, continuing their winning ways in the conference.
Game 1: Webber Bats Erupt in Blowout Win (WIU 12, NCF 4)
Webber opened the series with an offensive statement, pouring in 12 runs on 12 hits. Camren Carroll led the way, going 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Richard Rodriguez and Ryan Recio each added two hits and two RBIs, helping the Warriors pull away late with a nine-run outburst over the final three innings.
Blayne Huter earned the win, tossing six solid innings while allowing three earned runs. Gregory Bori closed the game despite a shaky ninth.
New College's highlight came from Freddy Espinal, who launched a solo home run in the third inning. However, defensive miscues and a taxed bullpen opened the floodgates in the late innings.
Game 2: NCF Avoids Sweep with Pitching Duel Victory (NCF 3, WIU 2)
New College finally broke through in the series finale, holding Webber to just two runs behind a strong outing from their bullpen and clutch pitching from starter Matt Cardenas.
After surrendering an early lead, NCF's offense came alive in the seventh with a four-run rally. Magliocca's double sparked the frame, followed by hits from Fernandez and Morrison. Fink added a sacrifice fly to push the margin to two.
Despite a scare in the ninth after a Webber rally, closer Wes Reif shut the door to preserve the 3-2 win.
Game 3: Ninth-Inning Comeback Sparks Webber Win (WIU 5, NCF 4)
Down 4–2 entering the ninth, Webber rallied behind a clutch two-out, two-run home run by DJ Stubbs to steal a victory. Stubbs' blast followed an unearned run that scored on a misplay in left field, tying the game.
New College had taken control with a three-run seventh powered by small-ball execution and timely hitting from Luis Morrison and Parker Fink. But their bullpen faltered, and Webber capitalized.
Skyler Schulz and Camren Carroll sparked the offense late, and Jacob Hardy earned the win in relief, keeping Webber within striking distance.
Game 4: Warriors Blank NCF Behind Eight-Run Burst (WIU 8, NCF 1)
Webber's most dominant all-around performance came in Game 3, thanks to an explosive fifth inning that saw them score five runs on five hits. Deven Tedders was the catalyst, reaching base three times, stealing two bags, and scoring twice.
The Warriors executed small ball and aggressive baserunning to perfection. Recio, Rodriguez, and Blackmore delivered clutch RBIs, while starter Brayden Matthews and reliever Ryan Franklin combined to limit NCF to just one run—courtesy of a solo homer by C. Bradburn in the seventh.
NCF had few answers at the plate, striking out 11 times and managing just one extra-base hit.
