Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Athletic Department and Athletic Director Brad Niethammer are pleased to announce Weightlifting as the newest Coed Varsity Sport at Webber. Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach Tristan Scheller will assume duties as Head Coach.
Webber will be the 44th collegiate weightlifting program in the country, continuing a trend of schools adding programs as weightlifting continues to grow at the high school level as well. Notable schools with collegiate programs include Miami, Florida, Florida State, Texas A&M, Rutgers, and Penn State.
Niethammer is excited about the addition of weightlifting to the Warrior Athletic Department and believes it will continue to grow in the future.
"We are excited to offer weightlifting as a Webber sport in 2025-2026. It's a growing sport at the high school level and we are offering the opportunity for these young athletes to continue their passion for the sport while continuing their education," Niethammer said.
Scheller is jumping right into recruiting and any interested athletes should email him at schellertw@webber.edu
Weightlifting is slated to start competing in the 2025-26 athletic year and will look to start bringing home medals as soon as possible.
