Huter's Career Night Helps Warriors Run Rule Seahawks

Babson Park, FL – The 7th ranked Webber International Baseball team opened up SUN Conference play with an NAIA top 20 matchup against the Keiser University Seahawks on Thursday evening. Behind 6.1 no hit innings from Senior Starter Blayne Huter, the Warriors opened conference play with a 12-2 victory at Brad Niethammer Field.

In the bottom of the first, Webber International scored twice on a throwing error and a passed ball, giving them a 2-0 lead despite recording just one hit. They extended their advantage in the second inning, scoring four unearned runs, highlighted by Jalen Martinez's three-run double, pushing the lead to 6-0.

The offensive onslaught continued in the third as Webber plated three more runs, thanks to an RBI single by Bryan Morales and aggressive baserunning. By the end of the inning, the Warriors held a commanding 9-0 lead.

Keiser struggled to generate any offense, failing to record a hit through the first 6.1 innings. Their best chance to score came in the fourth when they loaded the bases but failed to capitalize. Webber tacked on two more runs in the sixth, extending their lead to 11-0.

Keiser finally broke through in the seventh with two runs, courtesy of RBI singles from J. Garcia and M. Nichols, but it was too little, too late. Webber ended the game in the bottom of the seventh on Brandon Sanchez's RBI triple, sealing the 12-2 victory.

Webber's offense was powered by Sanchez, who went 4-for-5 with three RBIs, and Martinez, who had a three-run double. Keiser's struggles at the plate were evident, as Huter struck out 12 Seahawks, setting his new career high and managed just three hits.

The Warriors will play two more against the Seahawks on Friday, March 14th at Brad Niethammer Field.
