Warriors Dominate Cavaliers in Season Opening Win

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Women's Lacrosse team hosted the Montreat Cavaliers to start the 2025 season. Webber dominated from the start, going up 8-0 after one quarter, and ending up with an 18-1 victory.

The game was all Webber from the start, as they stormed out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. WIU wasted no time setting the tone, with Courtnie Couch opening the scoring at 12:20 in the first quarter off an assist from Jun Saito. That goal ignited a scoring surge, with the Warriors netting seven more before the quarter ended. Bryce Gerber led the charge with two unassisted goals, while Jun Saito, Natalie Baumgarten, Emelise Diaz, and Couch each added to the tally.

The second quarter saw more of the same, with WIU extending its lead to 13-0. Saito notched her second goal of the game, while Hailey Leavines, Gerber, Couch, and Kaylyn Clairmont also found the net.
WIU kept their foot on the gas after halftime. Saito secured her third goal early in the third quarter, and Gerber and Gabriella Isgrigg contributed to push the lead to 15-0. The final period saw Clairmont, Gerber, and Couch add three more before Montreat finally got on the board.

With just over three minutes left, Montreat's Grace Wiegand ended the shutout, scoring off an assist from Ruthann Stout. However, Gerber responded with her fifth goal of the match, assisted by Leavines, to seal the final score at 18-1.
