Miami Gardens, FL – The Webber International Men's Soccer team struck first but fell 5–2 at Florida Memorial on Wednesday afternoon SUN Conference game in Miami Gardens.
Jesus Perez put the Warriors ahead in the 23rd minute, slotting home after Miguel da Silva picked him out at the top of the box. The Lions answered with a quick two-goal swing before halftime—Nasreddine Benbella leveled in the 29th and Frank Sanchez made it 2–1 in the 36th—sending Webber into the break chasing the match at Dr. Lester Brown Stadium.
FMU extended its lead early in the second half when Benbella finished a feed from Rafael Coronado in the 50th minute. Webber kept pressing and pulled one back in the 77th as freshman Brandon Apon opened his account, tapping in at the back post from Perez's service to make it 3–2. The Lions responded immediately: substitute Luigi Gallo restored the two-goal cushion in the 81st, and Benbella completed his hat trick in the 86th to seal it.
Perez (1G, 1A) led the Warriors' attack, which produced 15 total shots and rattled the woodwork in the first half on a Tyler Keating header off the bar. Goalkeeper Alvaro Garcia finished with six saves against 12 shots on target. Webber earned four corners on the day and saw late chances from David Fritis saved as FMU saw the result out.
