Ave Maria, FL – The Webber International Football team traveled down to Ave Maria, Florida for a primetime SUN Conference Football matchup. The Warriors led wire-to-wire after a field goal in the first quarter, and took home the victory 33-16.
First Quarter (Offense)
Webber steadied after early sacks to put the first points on the board. Following a James Moore fumble recovery at the WIU 34, the Warriors pieced together a 12-play, 49-yard march capped by AJ Hitt's 34-yard field goal at 3:40 for a 3–0 lead. The ground game set the tone—D'Markus Mathis churned tough yards and the line converted a pair of early third downs.
First Quarter (Defense/Special Teams)
The defense sparked both scoring chances with takeaways, first pouncing on a quarterback fumble and later jarring out another at the WIU 27 to squash an Ave Maria threat. Caden Morrell and Landon Earl pressured throughout the frame, and Jaxson Rivera flipped the field with a 41-yard punt that the coverage team held to a 15-yard return. Webber led 3–0 after one.
Second Quarter (Offense)
Webber strung together a 13-play, 66-yard drive, mixing Johnny Lewis Jr.'s quick game with inside zone to stay on schedule. With 4:42 left in the half, Lewis found Terrell Holt on a 20-yard strike for the game's first touchdown; Hitt buried the PAT to make it 10–0. Webber drove again late and just missed a 48-yard field goal at the horn.
Second Quarter (Defense/Special Teams)
The Warriors forced a hurry on one series and then held in the red zone, watching the Gyrenes push a 40-yard kick wide at 1:00. Mikail Lee broke up a pass and the front seven limited Ave Maria to 32 first-half rushing yards (including sack yardage). Webber took a 10–0 cushion to the locker room.
Third Quarter (Offense)
Out of halftime, Webber cashed in twice. Hitt drilled a 48-yarder at 6:25, and after a defensive stand, the Warriors needed only four plays to go 56 yards—Mathis knifed in from 16 yards with 2:34 left, stretching the margin to 20–0 after the PAT. Chunk runs by Dorian Manuel and Quinton Moore keyed the burst.
Third Quarter (Defense/Special Teams)
The defense opened with a three-and-out, then Earl dropped the quarterback for a 19-yard sack, and Morrell added another 6-yard sack to stall drives. On kickoff coverage after the TD, Webber forced a fumble at the AMU 23 to keep momentum firmly on the visitors' sideline.
Fourth Quarter (Offense)
Webber delivered the back-breaker 10 seconds into the quarter when Lewis Jr. zipped a 17-yard touchdown to Dantay Diorio for a 26–0 lead. After Ave Maria got on the board, Webber answered with an 8-play, 36-yard clock-burning march punctuated by Reginald Johnson's 4-yard score at 2:25. Rivera added the PAT for 33–7 before the final seconds.
Fourth Quarter (Defense/Special Teams)
Even as AMU added late points—a 4-yard TD at 6:20, a 38-yard field goal with :08 left, and a 50-yard heave as time expired—the Warriors' defense had already dictated the night with three fumble recoveries, two sacks, and red-zone stops. Webber finished 5-for-5 in the red zone to close out a complete road win, 33–16.
