Babson Park, FL – The Webber International Football team dropped a physical SUN Conference matchup to Southeastern, 24–7, on Saturday afternoon at the Warrior Turf Field during their annual Pink Out Game. The Warriors controlled possession early and finished with a 34:47–25:13 edge in time of possession, but a pair of turnovers and six sacks allowed swung momentum after halftime.
The first quarter featured long, methodical drives on both sides. After an early fumble near midfield halted Webber's opening march, the Warrior defense responded with a three-and-out highlighted by a Christopher Johnson sack. SEU strung together a 12-play answer, settling for a 26-yard field goal with 3:45 left in the period to take a 3–0 lead.
Second-quarter adjustments paid off for the Webber ground game. Quarterback Trent Grotjan ripped off chunk gains on zone-read keepers and capped an 8-play, 71-yard drive with a 32-yard touchdown sprint at 7:08 to put the Warriors on top 7–3 following AJ Hitt's PAT.
The defense kept it that way into the break thanks to a Matthew Smiciklas interception on the first snap of the quarter and multiple pass breakups from the secondary. Webber nearly doubled its cushion before halftime, marching to the SEU 27 in the final minute, but a 44-yard field-goal try with 1:03 left sailed wide to keep the halftime score 7–3.
Southeastern seized control in the third. A 9-play, 65-yard drive to open the half ended in a 24-yard Jocquet Jiles touchdown run at 11:11, flipping the scoreboard to 10–7. A quick three-and-out and short field later, SEU struck again, this time through the air on a 10-yard touchdown pass to Kamonte Grimes at 6:20 to make it 17–7.
Webber's defense steadied late in the quarter with a series of stops and a strong punt from Jaxson Rivera to pin the Fire, but repeated long-yardage situations behind the sticks—driven by sacks and negative plays—kept the Warriors from closing the gap before the fourth.
Early in the fourth, a tipped pass became a turnover near midfield, and SEU turned the short field into a 4-play, 52-yard touchdown march, finished by a 13-yard Curtis Kimmons run at 10:40 for a 24–7 advantage. Webber answered with its longest fourth-quarter possession—11 plays and 52 yards—but a fourth-down throw to the sticks was stopped at the SEU 23 with 6:00 remaining.
Special teams and defense kept the door cracked in the closing minutes—Makai Elder's 24-yard punt return set up one last possession and Rivera's sixth punt of the day hung inside the 20 for the third time—but SEU bled the clock on downs and a late Webber push to the SEU 38 expired at 0:00. Final: SEU 24, Webber 7.
