Lakeland, FL – The Webber International Women's Basketball team faced a challenging matchup against SUN Conference foe Southeastern University, falling 82-50. Despite a strong individual performance from Jaiden Ross, Southeastern's depth and efficient offense proved too much for the Warriors.
The first quarter started with Southeastern taking control early, shooting 47.1% from the field and building a 19-11 lead. Ross led Webber with 4 points and 6 rebounds in the opening frame, but the Warriors struggled to find their shooting touch, going 0-for-4 from three-point range.
In the second quarter, Southeastern extended their lead behind hot shooting from beyond the arc, hitting 5-of-9 three-pointers. Jodi Mullins scored 9 of her 15 points in the quarter, while Southeastern capitalized on Webber's turnovers, converting them into fast-break opportunities. Webber showed some fight with Renae Brant adding a three-pointer, but the Warriors trailed 41-22 at halftime.
The third quarter saw Southeastern dominate, shooting 55% from the field and outscoring Webber 25-15. Mya Herman and Grace Field controlled the paint, combining for 12 points in the quarter. Ross continued to shine for the Warriors, recording her double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds, but Webber couldn't match Southeastern's pace.
In the final quarter, Southeastern maintained their defensive intensity, forcing 4 turnovers and holding Webber to just 4 field goals. Courtni Demorest and Rosa Sorribes added key baskets off the bench, helping Southeastern secure the 82-50 victory.
For Webber, Ross was the standout performer, finishing with 17 points, 16 rebounds, and 3 blocks. J Curry contributed 9 points, including three three-pointers, while Brant added 7 points and 4 rebounds.
Southeastern's balanced attack was led by Herman with 16 points, Mullins with 15 points, and Field with 12 points. Their bench added 26 points, and their defense forced 25 turnovers, converting them into 39 points.
