Babson Park, FL – The 5th-ranked Webber International baseball team notched their 30th win of the season as they secured the series against the Bobcats. 15 runs, 16 hits, and eight strikeouts allow the Warriors to sweep ST. Thomas through three games.
GAME ONE: WALK OFF SAC FLY FOR KALMAN GRABS GAME TWO WIN OVER BOBCATS
Brayden Matthews collects his sixth win of the season as he pitched seven complete innings, and only allowing one run off of three hits. The junior struck out four batters to boost the Warriors in game two.
Brodey Neveker and Ian Kalman garnered the two hits for the Warriors, as Kalman picked up both RBIs.
The Bobcats got on the board first with a two-out RBI single up the middle.
Camren Carroll broke up a scoreless inning with a two-out hit-by-pitch. A stolen base and Kalman single evened the score at one a piece, bringing up Tyren Milliner, who took a five-pitch walk. The Bobcats grabbed the third out of the inning, before the Warriors caused serious damage.
A one-out walk and wild pitch put Richard Rodriguez in scoring position as Carroll was hit again. Double steals put runners in scoring position as Kalman flied out to right field, bringing in the game-winning run.
GAME TWO: 7-RUN 5TH INNING COAST WARRIORS PAST THE BOBCATS AND CLAIMS THE SERIES
Six innings of work and three strikeouts is enough for Dylan Martin's fourth win of the 2024 season. Seth Lovell came in for relief in the top of the 7th inning, as he picked up a strikeout to give the Warriors the 13-6 win.
Lead off batter, Joseph Becker went 3-for-5, picking up 2 RBIs and a run. Ian Kalman, Brodey Neveker, Josh Blackmore, and Christian Campbell all added two hits apiece. A base-clearing triple for Campbell in the bottom of the 5th inning gave the Warriors a six-run lead to keep the momentum in WIU's favor.
The Bobcats once again scored first, as they brought three across in the top of the 1st inning. Webber responded with a Becker one-out single in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Back-to-back singles for Kalman and Recio put the Warriors on the board. Milliner doubled down the right field line to even the game at three runs each.
A Blackmore double to centerfield got things rolling in the bottom of the 4th inning, as a single for Campbell brought another run across, giving Webber a 4-3 lead.
STU walked three Webber batters in a row, bringing up the clutch pinch hitter, Case McClelland. McClelland singled through the left side, extending the Warriors' lead to three. A double steal put runners in scoring position, as Blackmore was intentionally walked to load the bases. Campbell tripled down the left field line, clearing the bases and putting Webber ahead 6. A wild pitch scored Campbell. Richard Rodriguez waited on a walk, as a Becker double flipped the lineup over. Kalman singled to right field, scoring one more to make it 11-3 heading into the 6th inning.
Webber added two suns off a Becker single in the bottom of the 6th inning. STU brought two across in the top of the 7th inning, but Lovell was able to come in and shut them down. Two double plays, two looking strikeouts, and two ground outs to Campbell closed the game with the Warriors ahead 13-5.
The Warriors will finish this series tomorrow, April 6th, with the first pitch being at 12 PM.
