Babson Park, FL – The 5th-ranked Webber International baseball team outscored the Warner Royals 14-10 to claim the series. Webber posted a 4-0 win in game one, and 10-4 in game two.
GAME ONE: MILLINER PICKS UP HIS 9TH HOME RUN AS THE WARRIORS BLANK THE ROYALS
Brighton Taylor got his first start of the season, pitching five shutout innings. Taylor struck out three batters and only walked one as he successfully kept the Royals from scoring. Danny Rodriguez picked up his fourth save of the season as he pitched two perfect innings and struck out four batters.
Tyren Milliner was dominant in game one, picking up his ninth homerun of the season in the top of the first inning, and an RBI double in the 6th. Gabriel Cruz and Richard Rodriguez hold the other two RBIs as Webber completed game one.
The Warriors got things rolling with a Milliner two-out solo homerun over the right field wall in the top of the 1st inning. Taylor wasted no time, sitting down each of his first three batters.
Warner led off the bottom of the second with a double to left center but was out in a run down. The Royals got two more on, but swinging strikeouts kept them from scoring.
Milliner broke up three scoreless innings with a single to second base, bringing R. Rodriguez in and extending the Warriors' lead to two.
Danny Rodriguez came in for relief in the bottom of the 6th inning, and worked quickly, keeping the Royals from getting on base.
The Warriors led off with a Brodey Neveker triple to right center. Cruz laid down a perfect bunt to put two aboard, scoring another run. A fielder's choice and throwing error brought in the fourth and final run for the Warriors, as D. Rodriguez slammed the door with three straight Ks.
GAME TWO: STRONG OFFENSIVE EFFORTS SECURES GAME THREE
Dylan Martin picked up his 7th win of the season, as he pitched seven shutout innings. Martin struck out four batters as he kept the Royals from scoring. Thomas Nelson and Ivan Martinez-Suarez pitched an inning a piece as the Warriors took down the Royals.
Gabriel Cruz and Joseph Becker both went 3-for-5, totaling three runs in total. Josh Blackmore notched a 3 RBI homerun in the top of the 8th inning to boost the Warriors' lead to nine.
Richard Rodriguez broke up five scoreless innings with a 2 RBI double to left center. Gabriel Cruz followed with a single to score R. Rodriguez, making it 3-0 for Webber.
Tyren Milliner led off with a five-pitch walk, as the big bat of Ryan Recio stepped to the plate. A triple for Recio scored Milliner, extending the Warriors lead to four. The Warriors added another run in the top of the 7th to make it 5-0.
A single for Neveker in the top of the 8th inning started a four run, two-out rally. Becker doubled, followed by a Case McClelland walk coupled with an error to score another. Blackmore sent a rocket over the left field wall clearing the bases and making it 9-0.
Neveker singled in the top of the 9th inning, scoring one more run to make it 10 unanswered runs.
Warner responded with four runs in the bottom of the 9th inning, but a 63 put out ended the game with the Warriors up six.
Webber will be back tomorrow for the final SUNC Series game of the 2024 regular season, with the first pitch scheduled for 12 PM.
