Webber Earns 3rd Consecutive AVCA Title

Babson Park, FL - The No. 5 Webber Warriors notched their 3rd straight AVCA title after going 4-0 over the weekend. WIU defeated Crooked Lake Rival, Warner, 3-0, before taking down Mobile for the third time this season. 

Webber earned a first-round bye after defeating both St. Andrews and Truett McConnell on day one. After Warner defeated SAU 3-2, they were slated to be WIU's first opponent of the day. The Warriors put the Royals away with a quick 3-0 win.  

Lily Arnold and Janna Morrissey got the Warriors on the board first with a straight set win as the number one pair. The two took set one, only allowing nine points against them. The Royals put up more of a fight in set two but were unsuccessful, as Webber took it 21-17. 

Nadia Reid and Kiersten Tisdale followed suit with a 21-13, 21-13 win at the twos. Abigail Baxter and Delanie Johnson secured the win for the Warriors with a win at the fours (21-16, 21-13). 

Mobile took down Truett McConnell to meet Webber at the finals.  

The Warriors had to battle from behind, as Mobile took a win at the threes pair. Arnold and Morrissey evened the score, taking down the Rams' top duo (21-13, 21-19). 

Vivianne Cianci and Anna Morton gave the Warriors the lead with two 21-18 sets.  

The Rams took set one 21-19 at the twos spot, before Reid and Tisdale flipped the score to even the match. The traded points, before the Warriors sealed the 3-1 win with a 15-11 set.  

With this, the Warriors notched their third AVCA Championship in a row, and fourth in program history. Webber will have a short break before heading to Greeneville, TN to battle for their first NAIA Championship title in program history.
