Babson Park, FL – The Webber International softball team battled through game one of the Sun Conference series against the Southeastern Fire. After a tough fight, the Warriors fell to the Fire 3-1.
Rachel Lamoureaux took a five-pitch walk to get things rolling for the Warriors in the bottom of the 1st inning. Thalia Romero followed with a single up the middle. A Fielder's Choice put runners on the corners with one out. Haley Saylor singled to right field bringing in Lamoureaux for the first run of the day.
SEU responded with a run of their own in the top of the 2nd inning to tie the game. Abigayle Ellison was able to work her way out of a few jams, but the Fire added a run in the top of the 5th and in the top of the 7th. Webber added three hits but was unable to capitalize.
The Warriors will be back tomorrow to battle through games two and three of the series against the Fire starting at 1 PM.
