Warriors Softball Grabs Four Wins In 24 Hours As Head Coach Todd Buckingham Earns 500th Career Win

Babson Park, FL – The Webber International softball team's hot streak stays alive as they garnered four wins in the last 24 hours as they move to 11-9 on the season. Head coach, Todd Buckingham earned his 500th career coaching win as the Warriors took down University of Michigan Dearborn for the second time this season.

GAME ONE: ROMERO LEADS WARRIORS TO 2-1 WIN OVER UM-DEARBORN

Jenna Chaudoin picked up her fourth win of the season as she pitched seven innings, had five strikeouts, and only allowed one run on four hits. Thalia Romero went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to secure the win for the Warriors.

Rachel Lamoureaux got things going with a two-out triple to left field before Romero brought her around with a standup double in the top of the first. The Wolverines were unable to respond as Chaudoin sat down three batters.

After an inning and a half of scoreless softball, Alexi Watkins took a leadoff walk and stole all the way around until she was caught at home. Alycia Celia followed with a walk and a steal for herself. Lamoureaux had a sacrificial ground out to the pitcher to advance Celia to third before Romero singled to center field and brought Celia around to extend the Warriors' lead.

Neither team was able to convert hits to runs until the Wolverines got one across in the bottom of the seventh before Chaudoin struck out the final batter of the night to seal the 2-1 win.

GAME TWO: WARRIORS STRONG FIRST INNING IS ENOUGH TO TAKE DOWN #14 INDIANA WESLEYAN

Taylor Thomas started in the circle for the Warriors in game two. The Sophomore pitched seven complete innings, struck out nine batters, and only allowed two runs on three hits. Genesis Aviles led the Warriors with a 2RBI single, while Thalia Romero went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Samantha Hudson, Logan Fennell, and Paige Weinmann added three more runs as the Warriors defeated #14 Indiana Wesleyan 6-2.

Thomas got things started with three swinging strikeouts to put the Warriors on offense. Taylor Bias and Thalia Romero took walks in the top of the first to get things going as a TWU error allowed JK Bland to load the bases. Samantha Hudson singled to the pitcher to allow Bias to score and keep the bases juiced. Aviles followed suit with a single to third base as Bland and Romero scored. Double steals put Warriors in scoring position as Alycia Celia took a walk to load the bases again. Paige Weinmann was hit by a pitch to score one before the Wildcats got the third out of the inning.

IWU scored two in the top of the third to end an inning-long scoring draught, which would be their only two runs of the night. Two more scoreless innings were broken up by a JK Bland single to right field. A sac bunt from Hudson moved Bland into scoring position before a wild pitch allowed her to advance to third. Aviles waited on a five-pitch walk to put runners on the corners. A sac bunt for Logan Fennell scored Bland as the Warriors extended their lead to three.

Webber tacked another run on in the bottom of the sixth as Romero singled to the shortstop to bring Watkins around. Grabs from Fennell and Bias were the final nails on the coffin as Webber defeated the Wildcats 6-2.

GAME THREE: BLAND WITH AN RBI SINGLE TO WALK OFF THE 7-6 WIN OVER THE CRIMSON WAVE

Jenna Chaudoin notched her fifth win of the season as she pitched seven complete innings and struck out three batters. Thalia Romero and JK Bland led the Warriors with two hits and two RBIs apiece. Genesis Aviles, Rachel Lamoureaux, and Logan Fennell accounted for the other three RBIs for Webber.

The Crimson Wave got on the board first with an RBI single in the top of the second and the top of the third to take a 2-0 lead. Webber responded with four straight hits to bring in five runs in the bottom of the third. CCSJ scored in te top of the fifth and the top of the seventh to even the score 6-6 before a two-out RBI single for Bland gave the Warriors' their sixth straight win.

GAME FOUR: RAYNER GRABS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON IN 5-1 VICTORY OVER CALUMET COLLEGE

Chloe Rayner got the start in game two of the doubleheader and grabbed her first win after collecting three strikeouts through seven innings, and only allowing one run on six hits. Gracie Lopez went 2-for3 with an RBI to give the Warriors the lead in the bottom of the second. Thalia Romero, Rachel Lamoureaux, and JK Bland notched the final three RBIs for the Warriors as they move to 10-9 on the season.

The Crimson Wave started similarly in game two, as they got on the board first with a sac fly. The Warriors responded with a Romero single to center field to bring around Lamoureaux to even the score. A walk and wild pitch put second basemen, Aubrey Brown, in scoring position as a single to the shortstop allowed Brown to score from an error on the throw. An error and a walk loaded the base as Romero took a five-pitch walk to score one more before the Crimson Wave got the third out of the inning.

Three scoreless innings ended as consecutive singles for Lopez and pinch hitter, Grace Kidwell, put two on. Lamoureaux reached first on a fielder's choice throw that Lopez beat to add another run to the board. A sac fly from Bland brought in the final run for the Warriors as they led 5-1 going into the seventh. A single for the Crimson Wave was not enough as Aviles caught the infield popup for the final out of the game

The Warriors will be back in action this weekend as they head to Melbourne, FL to compete in the Space Coast tournament on March 9th and 10th.
